The Fake Richard Dawkins Deconstrucd

Neven Mrgan breaks down Dawkins, Fake @Richard_Dawkins, and the reaction. While I piled onto the initial run-on joke I, like most things I do on Twitter, didn’t put much thought into it. @Remiel and I had a little back and forth and I faved a few tweets here and there because they made me giggle. (I’m easy). Neven’s post really brings home the fact that belief is personal and should be respected as such. Conversely, the institutions and the extremists are free mother fuckin’ game.

I type the following fully aware of its zeitgeisty hilarity: a mini-upset took place on Twitter last week. The soon-to-be-insufferable fashion of creating a fake celebrity Twitter account gave us @Richard_Dawkins, the Oxford professor and biology writer as a milquetoast web novice (in reality, Dawkins is a hip-to-the-jive, Mac-using Internet denizen). It was all fun and games until the money shot, which came in a quick series of tweets unloaded on the semi-captive audience.
