You don’t know enough about Dennis Johnson.

It’s not your fault, hell, many in the media & those who vote for the basketball Hall of Fame must not have known just how good he was. There’s no other explanation as to why it took so long for him to get inducted. Maybe he was overshadowed by the Big 3. Ask Rondo what that feels like. Then remember that he has a looong way to go before he’s the player DJ was. 

Anyway, rather than have me attempt to describe just how great he was, let’s have Larry Bird do the honors:

 “I played with a lot of great players, but if I had to play with only one of them it would have been DJ. I just had a connection with him. The backdoor cuts and many other things. We never needed any conversation on the court. No need for talking. He just always knew what we needed.’’ 

“He was a big-game player. He always shot better in the playoffs and he always took it hard to the hole in big games. People forget he won before he came to Boston, and once he came, we got to the Finals four years in a row.’’

“I played with some great players, but DJ was the easiest to play with.’’

Great compliments from a pretty good ball player & former teammate. Now they are fellow members of the Hall of Fame.
